Qi grew up near Shanghai, China. She received a Bachelor and then a Master of Laws at China University of Political Science & Law in Beijing. Her master's focused on international law. She is fluent in Mandarin. Qi was a summer associate at Paul Hastings LLP in Shanghai participating in due diligence for IPO offerings and prospectuses. Qi later moved to the USA and completed an L.L.M. degree at New York University School of Law with a concentration in corporate law. She was a member of the NYU Mediation Clinic. She passed the New York Bar exam.
